HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY, CARA AND MADY!!!!

October 8, 2011

11 years ago…..My first two precious children were born on this day. I remember being completely miserable at 4:30am when I woke up and realized that today was THE day.. It took me a second to figure out what today’s date was and when I realized it was October the 8th, a nice even number, I became excited as this would be a memorable day for us forevermore!

We hustled to the hospital to get this birthday party started! I was very nervous as I obviously had never given birth before and this was years prior to my job as labor and delivery nurse, so I didn’t have much more knowledge than the next patient!

The day was long, the pain was great (until the “magic” epidural man visited my room, that is!) and I had a low blood pressure reaction which was a complication of the epidural but, by the end of the day, I had two of the most precious perfect twin baby girls ever!

They came into this world at 5:41 and 5:47 with Cara Nicole weighing 5 pounds 3 ounces and Madelyn Kate weighing 5 pounds 1 ounce!

This is the day that my life I had always dreamed of began! I enjoyed absolutely every moment of being a “twin mom.” I devoted my all to being these little girls’ mommy and the rewards they gave me were worth every sleepless night, spit up stain and inconsolable cry!

As I’ve watched my two beauties grow, I am amazed at who each of them has become. They are both unique individuals with their own styles, passions and goals.

In the last year, I have seen them change from little giggly girls to older and wiser preteens. They are a joy to “hang out with” and discuss life issues with and if ever I need a laugh, they are there with cute little antics that are sure to remind me that life is worth laughing about!

I am honored to be called “mommy” by these two amazing creatures that God created and designed for me!

Happy 11th birthday, Cara and Mady! I love you both so very deeply – and just as you said this morning when I told you that again – “yes, we know, mommy!”

xoxo
